'Frequency of Colour' is a mathematical equation based on the individual frequencies of coloured light waves. Pure light is made up of every colour imaginable. When pure light is passed through a prism (or slowed down through water droplets as in a rainbow) we can see the colour fields laid out. Red being the longest and therefore 'slowest' frequency, moving through yellows, greens and blues to violet light having the shortest and 'fastest' wave.
This painting was mapped out using traditional, hand drawing implements and measuring tools such as protractors, rulers and compasses. The algorithmic equations were calculated using pencil, paper and electronic calculator.
The painting represents the frequencies of red (400-480 THz - Terahertz), orange (480 - 510 THz) and yellow (510 - 530THz). For visual effect and impact each colour is placed on a background of its complimentary opposite eg. yellow upon purple. It was painted in multiple layers of high quality pigment in linseed oil.
